(no subject)

Who: Celeste and Dragon
When: Day 11, morningish
Where: Dragon's portrait
What:

[Today, scaled talons reach out and grab each of the Celestes in turn, pulling them into Dragon's cave. Dragon itself is there, lounging on the floor, the bones of animals strewn all around. It surveys them lazily.]

Celeste. I have a proposition for you.

We already are. And guess what! As long as anyone can justify sacrificing us for 'better people', we will be a target. No one is going to hold hands with us when they can use us a scapegoat.

It's not like how they see us is set in stone. We -- can still change it, can't we? I don't want us to be the scapegoat anymore.

Why would they? I mean it. Your choices to kill are a team you like and know, and a team with a bad reputation. Knowing both just means you choose between two teams you like. Not bothering to learn about the bad guys means you don't have to dwell or check your conscience, or even worry about other teams judging your choices.

There's always going to be a need for gutter trash and an easy option.

If the teams like us, then there's less of a chance of us being an "easy option". Even if it's just a few -- wouldn't that be enough to sway an opinion, at least?

Someone else -- another team can be gutter trash. I don't want us to be targets.

[personal profile] remarch 2012-11-15 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Tell me how. How do we get another team so slandered they sink beneath us, and oh wait, no, that won't work because after this everyone's going to think we're allied with team art. Not that we would have been able to turn the opinion anyway because why would any team risk sinking beneath us?

... I -- I don't know.

Strategy A: we reject the dragon's proposal, get eaten again, spend every game after trying to get alliances while being the targets with every team aware if we move up someone they already like if not themselves moves down. With nothing to actually offer in an alliance to anyone. Oh and another team likely gets this deal and starts running games against us at the same time. With no actual plan on how to do this.

Strategy B: we accept, we do it well, we may get to skip other games too if other portraits offer, we can offer an alliance from a position of power and we make everyone too frightened to use us as their pinata.

Explain option 'let's get tortured repeatedly with no plan based on vague ideals of friendship in a competition where everyone's fighting for something so important we gave up memories and abilities and maybe our lives' to your master, why don't you? You want to pitch that to him?

-- Shut up, March.

[it's practically a snarl, and his hands are tightening into fists at his sides; visibly restraining himself]

We accepted the deal, and we're running this competition. This discussion is done.
