No, besides just being fond of them.

...I believe the girl on Sage recognized me but she's the only one outside of Cardinal that I'd strongly want to protect, and I don't know if she's even present.

Keeping our word ... that's a useful weapon in our arsenal. If we protect Iris now it will show we're serious about only striking when struck.

... or it'll make us seem like easier prey. I don't know which is the case. It's just a thought.

The brother of one of their members just came to us and brought up the issue, and claimed that Shell would break off their alliance if we attacked Iris like that again...He was also kind enough to me and answered my questions, despite being a recent arrival on supposedly dangerous team.

I have no reason to show Iris mercy, but we can use this to show that we respect the alliances we make and will respect our allies and their wishes. As well as reiterating what you've said about our policy. After all, they struck us and you struck back. As it stands, we're back to a level playing field with them.

Yes. On the other hand, with this sort of game ... maybe those reasons don't matter. Iris clearly has friends who want to protect them. Shell, for example. Protecting them might be pointless.
