I'll let you guys decide. You have more connections than I do, right? Obviously I'd be for Lilac, but I'll go with whoever you all want.

Do you think Lilac will be protected? Even if I have my own connections and biases, your feelings are important . . . and I don't want Lilac to be hurt, either.

I don't know, to be honest. Do they have more friends? More important people? Trucy's father's on Byzantium, but I haven't seen him lately. Would they still protect Lilac? Hell, I don't even know if Trucy is even playing.

They have friends; Shell and Canary for sure. She's usually at these competitions . . .

(Canary's already proven they're alright with hurting their friends, and, unless I've been seeing things, I'm fairly sure there's a boy on Shell with a twin. They won't protect her. . .)

It's kind of pointless to even think about who would right now.

I disagree. Aside from that one specific point, there is absolutely no weight to our choice at all, within the mechanics of the game.

Either we will live or we will die, that is already out of our hands. If we live and not many others do, we are assured a victory. If too many live, only those that chose wisely will receive a victory.

It is that last corner case alone for which our choice counts for anything.

Well, in that case, the only teams I think would even think of protecting us are Lilac, Iris, and possibly Byzantium. The former because we have good friends on those teams from our previous lives, and the latter just because we've always been on friendly terms. However, those teams also have other connections, so it's no guarantee that we can depend on them 100%.

If I had to pick a team to protect, I'd pick Lilac, due to my relationship with Trucy. There's no other logic based reason.

She's my assistant back home, and I work for her father, apparently. I'd rather nothing happen to her, but. . .[frowns] I know an important person to me isn't an important person to someone else.

They're childhood friends, likely best friends, probably something more. You're better off asking her yourself.

While the mental exercises are interesting, I would prefer something complex. I want whether I live or die to be in my own hands.

And having to sit and wonder for four hours..? It appears the dragon is trying to press our psyche.
